Certificates are the physical representation of the coverage at the time of the Certificate Effective Date.

Certificate Creation and Certificate Effective Dates

1. The effective date of the certificate cannot be before the coverage is active. This is because the coverage does not exist.

2. If the effective date of the certificate is after the termination date of the coverage, coverage termination language will appear on the certificate. If you wish, we are able to turn on a feature that will display CANCELLED in large letters on the coverage.

3. You are able to backdate a certificate’s effective date. How the coverage appears on the certificate depends on the state of the coverage at the time of the certificate effective date.
